Artist Statement
Alicia Chapman is an American contemporary artist whose work centers on the sacred feminine, blending classical portraiture with a modern design aesthetic. She translates human experience into form, where emotion, memory, and nature converge into something both seen and felt.
Drawing from her street art experience, Spanish heritage, and Catholic visual traditions, Chapman reinterprets devotional iconography through a contemporary lens. Her paintings explore themes of reverence, identity, resilience, and transformation, positioning women as icons of strength and dignity.
Nature is woven throughout her compositions, serving as quiet counterparts to her subjects and symbolizing growth, protection, fragility, and becoming through richly layered surfaces.
Over the years, Alicia has worked with some of the best.
